𝐋𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐨𝐧
In this week’s lesson, we’re learning about how God has a mission for all of us. It’s like a big plan He has to bring us closer to Him and make us better people. We can find clues about God’s mission in the Bible.
When we read the Bible, we can see that God is trying to connect with us, even when we make mistakes. God wants to fix the broken relationship caused by sin. Eventually, God will make everything perfect again.
God helps us understand Him and His love, and we can share this love with others. That’s part of God’s mission for us.
𝐄𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐧 𝐖𝐡𝐢𝐭𝐞 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐫𝐲
Ellen White talks about how we should believe that God chose us to be saved because of our faith and His love. God wants a close relationship with us and is forgiving and joyful. We are like a special treasure to Him.
She also mentions that we need to let God’s love change our hearts and follow the Bible’s teachings. When we do that, we can be a positive influence on the world and help others.
𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐜𝐥𝐮𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧
Remember that God has a big mission for us – to know Him, love Him, and share His love with others. And we do this by being kind, loving, and following the teachings of the Bible.
𝐑𝐞𝐟𝐥𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧
Why do you think it’s important for the church to have a worldwide mission? For clues, read Matthew 28:19
KJV
19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:
CEV
19 Go to the people of all nations and make them my disciples. Baptize them in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit,
How can you personally be a part of God’s mission to share His love with others?
𝐒𝐔𝐍𝐃𝐀𝐘 – The Triune God: The Origin of Mission
𝐋𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐨𝐧
The mission of God involves the Father, the Son (Jesus), and the Holy Spirit. Jesus plays a crucial role in God’s mission because He’s the only way to salvation – John 14:6
KJV
6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.
CEV
6 “I am the way, the truth, and the life!” Jesus answered. “Without me, no one can go to the Father.
But here’s something amazing: Jesus didn’t just start His mission when He came to Earth. He received this mission from His Father even before the world was created. So, God had a plan to reach out to humanity from the very beginning – John 1:1-3
KJV
1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
2 The same was in the beginning with God.
3 All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.
CEV
1 In the beginning was the one who is called the Word. The Word was with God and was truly God.
2 From the very beginning the Word was with God.
3 And with this Word, God created all things. Nothing was made without the Word. Everything that was created
Jesus created the world, and then, at the right time, He came to Earth to show God’s love by dying on the cross and defeating death – Colossians 1:15-17
After that, the Holy Spirit came to continue God’s mission by helping and empowering people for His work – John 14:16-17
KJV
15 Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature:
16 For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him:
17 And he is before all things, and by him all things consist.
CEV
15 Christ is exactly like God, who cannot be seen. He is the first-born Son, superior to all creation.
16 Everything was created by him, everything in heaven and on earth, everything seen and unseen, including all forces and powers, and all rulers and authorities. All things were created by God's Son, and everything was made for him.
17 God's Son was before all else, and by him everything is held together.
KJV
16 And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever;
17 Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.
CEV
16 Then I will ask the Father to send you the Holy Spirit who will help you and always be with you.
17 The Spirit will show you what is true. The people of this world cannot accept the Spirit, because they don't see or know him. But you know the Spirit, who is with you and will keep on living in you.
The mission doesn’t belong to us alone; it belongs to the triune God—Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. And because it’s God’s mission, it will succeed no matter what.
𝐄𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐧 𝐖𝐡𝐢𝐭𝐞 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐫𝐲
Ellen White explains that God is like a loving father, and Jesus set an example for us by serving God willingly and lovingly. We should follow Christ’s obedience – Philippians 2:5-7
KJV
5 Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:
6 Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God:
7 But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men:
CEV
5 and think the same way that Christ Jesus thought:
6 Christ was truly God. But he did not try to remain equal with God.
7 Instead he gave up everything and became a slave, when he became like one of us.
She also talks about the mystery of Jesus becoming human and His sacrifice on the cross to save us. This incredible act of love should make us grateful and willing to follow God’s ways – 1 Peter 2:21
KJV
21 For even hereunto were ye called: because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that ye should follow his steps:
CEV
21 After all, God chose you to suffer as you follow in the footsteps of Christ, who set an example by suffering for you.
𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐜𝐥𝐮𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧
In the end, it’s all about the incredible love that God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit have for us, and how we can respond to that love by obeying God and serving others.
𝐑𝐞𝐟𝐥𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧
What does it mean to keep the “eternal gospel” at the center of our mission to the world?
How can the message of what Jesus has done for us at the cross bring hope to people everywhere?
𝐌𝐎𝐍𝐃𝐀𝐘 – Making Disciples: The Focus of Mission
𝐋𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐨𝐧
Today, we’re talking about how Jesus gave His followers an important job called the Great Commission. It’s like a mission for all of us who follow Jesus.
Matthew recorded that Jesus told His disciples to go out into the world and make more disciples – Matthew 28:16-20
Making disciples means helping others become followers of Jesus, just like they are. There are four main things to know about the Great Commission:
KJV
16 Then the eleven disciples went away into Galilee, into a mountain where Jesus had appointed them.
17 And when they saw him, they worshipped him: but some doubted.
18 And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.
19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:
20 Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen.
CEV
16 Jesus' eleven disciples went to a mountain in Galilee, where Jesus had told them to meet him.
17 They saw him and worshiped him, but some of them doubted.
18 Jesus came to them and said: I have been given all authority in heaven and on earth!
19 Go to the people of all nations and make them my disciples. Baptize them in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit,
20 and teach them to do everything I have told you. I will be with you always, even until the end of the world.
- Jesus told His disciples to go and be with Him – Matthew 28:16
KJV 16 Then the eleven disciples went away into Galilee, into a mountain where Jesus had appointed them. CEV 16 Jesus' eleven disciples went to a mountain in Galilee, where Jesus had told them to meet him. - He reminded them that He has the power and authority – Matthew 28:18
KJV 18 And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. CEV 18 Jesus came to them and said: I have been given all authority in heaven and on earth! - He asked them to make disciples, teaching them about faith and baptizing them – Matthew 28:19
KJV 19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: CEV 19 Go to the people of all nations and make them my disciples. Baptize them in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, - Jesus promised to be with them always – Matthew 28:20
KJV 20 Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen. CEV 20 and teach them to do everything I have told you. I will be with you always, even until the end of the world.
So, the main goal of this mission is to help others become followers of Jesus, teaching them about His love and helping them get closer to God.
𝐄𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐧 𝐖𝐡𝐢𝐭𝐞 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐫𝐲
Ellen White tells us that Jesus gave the mission to help others become followers of Him to His disciples, and He made sure they had everything they needed to succeed. He promised to be with them always, so they couldn’t fail.
She also explains that this mission isn’t just for the first disciples; it’s for all of us who follow Jesus. We’re all responsible for sharing His love and teachings with others.
𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐜𝐥𝐮𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧
When you find something amazing, you want to tell your friends about it. That’s what Jesus wants us to do—share the amazing news about Him with everyone we meet. And when we do this, we become co-workers with Christ and bring His love to the world.
𝐑𝐞𝐟𝐥𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧
What did Jesus tell His disciples to do in Matthew 28:19-20
KJV
19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:
20 Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen.
CEV
19 Go to the people of all nations and make them my disciples. Baptize them in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit,
20 and teach them to do everything I have told you. I will be with you always, even until the end of the world.
Why is making disciples important for Christians today?
𝐓𝐔𝐄𝐒𝐃𝐀𝐘 – The Eternal Gospel: The Message of Mission
𝐋𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐨𝐧
In today’s lesson, we’re looking at a special message called the “eternal gospel.” It’s like the most important news ever, and it’s all about God’s love and plan for us.
The eternal gospel is about God’s love and grace, which we receive through Jesus Christ. Jesus came to Earth to show us how much God loves us – John 3:16
He lived a perfect life, died for our sins on the cross – 1 Corinthians 15:3
KJV
16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
CEV
16 God loved the people of this world so much that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who has faith in him will have eternal life and never really die.
and came back to life – Luke 24:6
KJV
3 For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures;
CEV
3 I told you the most important part of the message exactly as it was told to me. This part is: Christ died for our sins, as the Scriptures say.
He’s now in heaven, taking care of us – Hebrews 7:25
KJV
6 He is not here, but is risen: remember how he spake unto you when he was yet in Galilee,
CEV
6 Jesus isn't here! He has been raised from death. Remember that while he was still in Galilee, he told you,
and getting ready to come back one day to make everything perfect – Revelation 22:12
KJV
25 Wherefore he is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by him, seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them.
CEV
25 He is forever able to save the people he leads to God, because he always lives to speak to God for them.
KJV
12 And, behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be.
CEV
12 Then I was told: I am coming soon! And when I come, I will reward everyone for what they have done.
This message is called “eternal” because it’s never going away – Hebrews 13:8
It’s always going to be the same, and it’s the only message that can save us – Acts 4:12
KJV
8 Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever.
CEV
8 Jesus Christ never changes! He is the same yesterday, today, and forever.
KJV
12 Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.
CEV
12 Only Jesus has the power to save! His name is the only one in all the world that can save anyone.
In Revelation we learn that the eternal gospel is linked to the idea of judgment – Revelation 14:6-7
It tells us that Jesus is coming back, and when He does, He’ll judge the world – Revelation 20:11-12
KJV
6 And I saw another angel fly in the midst of heaven, having the everlasting gospel to preach unto them that dwell on the earth, and to every nation, and kindred, and tongue, and people,
7 Saying with a loud voice, Fear God, and give glory to him; for the hour of his judgment is come: and worship him that made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and the fountains of waters.
CEV
6 I saw another angel. This one was flying across the sky and had the eternal good news to announce to the people of every race, tribe, language, and nation on earth.
7 The angel shouted, “Worship and honor God! The time has come for him to judge everyone. Kneel down before the one who created heaven and earth, the oceans, and every stream.”
This is a reminder that we should live according to God’s love and teachings – John 14:15
KJV
11 And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them.
12 And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works.
CEV
11 I saw a great white throne with someone sitting on it. Earth and heaven tried to run away, but there was no place for them to go.
12 I also saw all the dead people standing in front of that throne. Every one of them was there, no matter who they had once been. Several books were opened, and then the book of life was opened. The dead were judged by what those books said they had done.
KJV
15 If ye love me, keep my commandments.
CEV
15 Jesus said to his disciples: If you love me, you will do as I command.
𝐄𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐧 𝐖𝐡𝐢𝐭𝐞 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐫𝐲
Ellen White tells us that the gospel is incredibly important because it’s what makes our souls pure and holy – Ephesians 1:7
It’s like a special power that helps us live a good life – 2 Peter 1:3
KJV
7 In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace;
CEV
7-8 Christ sacrificed his life's blood to set us free, which means our sins are now forgiven. Christ did this because of God's gift of undeserved grace to us. God has great wisdom and understanding,
KJV
3 According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue:
CEV
3 We have everything we need to live a life that pleases God. It was all given to us by God's own power, when we learned he had invited us to share in his wonderful goodness.
She also says that when we share the gospel and help others follow Jesus, we’re being wise and doing important work. This work is part of getting ready for Jesus’ second coming, which is the most amazing event ever – Revelation 22:20
KJV
20 He which testifieth these things saith, Surely I come quickly. Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus.
CEV
20 The one who has spoken these things says, “I am coming soon!”So, Lord Jesus, please come soon!
𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐜𝐥𝐮𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧
So, remember, the eternal gospel is all about God’s love and grace through Jesus – Romans 5:8
and it’s something we should share with others to get ready for Jesus’ return – Mark 16:15
KJV
8 But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
CEV
8 But God showed how much he loved us by having Christ die for us, even though we were sinful.
KJV
15 And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.
CEV
15 Then he told them: Go and preach the good news to everyone in the world.
𝐑𝐞𝐟𝐥𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧
What is the “eternal gospel” mentioned in Revelation 14:6-7
How is the concept of judgment connected to the “eternal gospel”?
𝐖𝐄𝐃𝐍𝐄𝐒𝐃𝐀𝐘 – The Channels of Mission
𝐋𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐨𝐧
In today’s lesson, we’re talking about how God’s people play a vital role in His mission. Throughout history, God has chosen people to represent Him and spread His message of love and grace.
In the Old Testament, God chose Abraham and his descendants to be a special group of people – Genesis 12:1-3
They were meant to show God’s love and blessings to the world. God’s plan was for the world to come to them and learn about Him – Deuteronomy 7:6
KJV
1 Now the Lord had said unto Abram, Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and from thy father's house, unto a land that I will shew thee:
2 And I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great; and thou shalt be a blessing:
3 And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed.
CEV
1 The Lord said to Abram: Leave your country, your family, and your relatives and go to the land that I will show you.
2 I will bless you and make your descendants into a great nation. You will become famous and be a blessing to others.
3 I will bless those who bless you, but I will put a curse on anyone who puts a curse on you. Everyone on earth will be blessed because of you.
Deuteronomy 7:11-12
KJV
6 For thou art an holy people unto the Lord thy God: the Lord thy God hath chosen thee to be a special people unto himself, above all people that are upon the face of the earth.
CEV
Moses said:
6 Israel, you are the chosen people of the Lord your God. There are many nations on this earth, but he chose only Israel to be his very own.
KJV
11 Thou shalt therefore keep the commandments, and the statutes, and the judgments, which I command thee this day, to do them.
12 Wherefore it shall come to pass, if ye hearken to these judgments, and keep, and do them, that the Lord thy God shall keep unto thee the covenant and the mercy which he sware unto thy fathers:
CEV
11 So be sure to obey his laws and teachings I am giving you today. Moses said to Israel:
12 If you completely obey these laws, the Lord your God will be loyal and keep the agreement he made with you, just as he promised our ancestors.
In the New Testament, things changed. Now, it’s not the world coming to one place; it’s God’s people going out into the world. Jesus told His followers to go everywhere and tell everyone about Him – Matthew 28:18-20
Acts 1:8
KJV
18 And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.
19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:
20 Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen.
CEV
18 Jesus came to them and said: I have been given all authority in heaven and on earth!
19 Go to the people of all nations and make them my disciples. Baptize them in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit,
20 and teach them to do everything I have told you. I will be with you always, even until the end of the world.
That’s where the church, made up of Jesus’ followers, comes in.
KJV
8 But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.
CEV
8 But the Holy Spirit will come upon you and give you power. Then you will tell everyone about me in Jerusalem, in all Judea, in Samaria, and everywhere in the world.”
The mission of the church is to tell people about Jesus, who came to save us from our sins. We’re like messengers sharing this amazing news with the world.
𝐄𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐧 𝐖𝐡𝐢𝐭𝐞 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐫𝐲
Ellen White explains that just like God chose people in the past, He chooses us today to share His love and message. We are like lights in the world, showing others the way to God.
Our mission is to let our light shine by living a good life and telling others about Jesus. This work is crucial because there are people in the world who don’t know about God’s love, and we can help them find it.
𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐜𝐥𝐮𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧
We should be eager to share God’s love with others, just like a light shining in the darkness. And by doing this, we’re helping to fulfill God’s mission and prepare the world for Jesus’ return.
𝐑𝐞𝐟𝐥𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧
What was God’s original purpose for His people in the Old Testament, according to the following passages:
- Genesis 12:1-3
KJV 1 Now the Lord had said unto Abram, Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and from thy father's house, unto a land that I will shew thee: 2 And I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great; and thou shalt be a blessing: 3 And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed. CEV 1 The Lord said to Abram: Leave your country, your family, and your relatives and go to the land that I will show you. 2 I will bless you and make your descendants into a great nation. You will become famous and be a blessing to others. 3 I will bless those who bless you, but I will put a curse on anyone who puts a curse on you. Everyone on earth will be blessed because of you. - Deuteronomy 7:6
KJV 6 For thou art an holy people unto the Lord thy God: the Lord thy God hath chosen thee to be a special people unto himself, above all people that are upon the face of the earth. CEV Moses said: 6 Israel, you are the chosen people of the Lord your God. There are many nations on this earth, but he chose only Israel to be his very own. - Deuteronomy 7:11-12
KJV 11 Thou shalt therefore keep the commandments, and the statutes, and the judgments, which I command thee this day, to do them. 12 Wherefore it shall come to pass, if ye hearken to these judgments, and keep, and do them, that the Lord thy God shall keep unto thee the covenant and the mercy which he sware unto thy fathers: CEV 11 So be sure to obey his laws and teachings I am giving you today. Moses said to Israel: 12 If you completely obey these laws, the Lord your God will be loyal and keep the agreement he made with you, just as he promised our ancestors.
How did God use ancient Israel as part of His mission strategy?
𝐓𝐇𝐔𝐑𝐒𝐃𝐀𝐘 – The World: The Arena of Mission
𝐋𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐨𝐧
In today’s lesson, we learn that God’s mission is not limited to one place—it’s for the whole world! Revelation tells us that people from every nation, tribe, and language will be part of God’s family – Revelation 7:9-10
KJV
9 After this I beheld, and, lo, a great multitude, which no man could number, of all nations, and kindreds, and people, and tongues, stood before the throne, and before the Lamb, clothed with white robes, and palms in their hands;
10 And cried with a loud voice, saying, Salvation to our God which sitteth upon the throne, and unto the Lamb.
CEV
9 After this, I saw a large crowd with more people than could be counted. They were from every race, tribe, nation, and language, and they stood before the throne and before the Lamb. They wore white robes and held palm branches in their hands,
10 as they shouted, “Our God, who sits upon the throne, has the power to save his people, and so does the Lamb.”
Jesus gave His followers a special job: to share His love and message with everyone. He said they should start where they lived (Jerusalem), then go to nearby places (Judea and Samaria), and eventually to the farthest parts of the world – Acts 1:8
That means they needed to be ready to help people everywhere!
This mission isn’t just for Jesus’ time; it’s for us too. We should start by sharing God’s love with the people near us, like our family and friends (our “Jerusalem”) – Matthew 28:19
Then, we can reach out to others who are like us but may not know about Jesus (our “Judea and Samaria”). And finally, we should be willing to help people from all over the world (the “end of the earth”).
KJV
19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:
CEV
19 Go to the people of all nations and make them my disciples. Baptize them in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit,

Ellen White reminds us that Jesus told His followers to wait for the Holy Spirit’s power before starting their mission. We can’t do this work on our own; we need God’s help!
She also says that we shouldn’t wait for people to come to us. Instead, we should go to them, just like a shepherd looks for lost sheep. We should share the message of Jesus’ love and sacrifice with the world, and our unity as Christians will show the world the power of God’s love.

Let’s be like lights that shine God’s love everywhere, from our own neighborhoods to the farthest corners of the earth!

What three geographical areas did Jesus mention as places for spreading the gospel? See Acts 1:8
What does it mean for you to be a “witness” for Jesus in your own community?

In Advent Review and Sabbath Herald, November 14, 1912, Ellen White is telling us that Jesus wants His followers to spread His message to people all around the world, like how sunlight reaches every corner of the Earth. If we truly followed Jesus, we wouldn’t just stay in one place and avoid helping others. Instead, we would go out into the world, just like Jesus did when He was on Earth, and shine with His love. We would work to save people’s souls and share the good news of God’s kingdom with everyone.
She also says that from every part of the world, there’s a call for help, like someone saying, “Come and help us!” God has given us opportunities to go out and share His love with others. Angels are working with us, and God’s power is with us too. If we answer this call and do our part in sharing God’s message, many people will come to know the truth and be changed by it. It will be an amazing and wonderful result of our efforts!
𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐜𝐥𝐮𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧
We should tell everyone about Jesus, not just where we live, but also in other parts of the world. And we should always remember that the most important message is about God’s love and what Jesus did for us.

Two Boys, Two Prayers: Conclusion
By Andrew McChesney
In Guinea, after Father’s amazing prayer was answered, eight more months passed, and the Seventh-day Adventist church members returned to visit him. This time, they came on a Sabbath with Father’s sons, Junior and Emile, who attended the Adventist school on the church compound.
“We are here to pray,” a church elder explained.
Father was grateful but had a question. He asked, “Why do all other Christians go to church on Sunday, but you worship on Saturday?”
The elder invited Father to open his Bible to Exodus 20:8-10
. Father read, “Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy. Six days you shall labor and do all your work, but the seventh day is the Sabbath of the Lord your God” (NKJV).
KJV
8 Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy.
9 Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work:
10 But the seventh day is the sabbath of the Lord thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates:
CEV
8 Remember that the Sabbath Day belongs to me.
9 You have six days when you can do your work,
10 but the seventh day of each week belongs to me, your God. No one is to work on that day — not you, your children, your slaves, your animals, or the foreigners who live in your towns.
But Father was still unsure. He said, “The seventh day is Sunday.”
The elder then asked him to turn to Matthew 28:1
. Father read, “Now after the Sabbath, as the first day of the week began to dawn, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary came to see the tomb.” Father saw that the seventh day of the Bible was Saturday. “I understand,” he said. “Let’s pray.”
KJV
1 In the end of the sabbath, as it began to dawn toward the first day of the week, came Mary Magdalene and the other Mary to see the sepulchre.
CEV
1 The Sabbath was over, and it was almost daybreak on Sunday when Mary Magdalene and the other Mary went to see the tomb.
After the church group left, Father showed the verses to Mother, but she wasn’t convinced. She said, “No, we will stay in our church. I don’t care what they said. And even if our children go to their church, I won’t leave my church.”
Father suggested a time of prayer and fasting. “These questions started when our children began to attend that school,” he said. “We sent our children there to be educated. We don’t know whether God sent our children to that church to lead us there. If this is the church of Jesus, let Jesus show us.”
So, Father and Mother prayed and fasted for a whole week. Father prayed, “If this is Your will, let nothing prevent us from going to church next Sabbath.”
The next Sabbath, everything fell into place easily. Mother agreed to go to the Adventist church, and the church members warmly welcomed them. Father felt incredibly happy afterward. It was as if a heavy burden had been lifted from his heart. He started praying regularly, and his life changed in amazing ways. His work prospered, he reconciled with his family, and he even had a child named after him by his older brother. Both he and Mother decided to give their hearts to Jesus through baptism.
Father, whose name is Pepe Voctorien Soropogui, said, “I have peace. Jesus’ hand is in this church, and I thank God for bringing me here.”

God’s Worldwide Mission
Throughout this week’s lessons, we’ve explored the incredible theme of God’s mission for all of us and His love for the whole world. God’s mission is like a big plan to bring us closer to Him and make the world a better place through His love.
Sunday we remembered that God’s mission involves the Father, the Son (Jesus), and the Holy Spirit. Jesus is the key to salvation, and His mission started even before the world was created. It’s a mission that belongs to the triune God, and it will always succeed.
Monday taught us that Jesus gave His followers the Great Commission, a special job to make disciples and teach about faith and baptism. This mission is for all of us today, and it’s about sharing Jesus’ love with everyone.
Tuesday introduced us to the “eternal gospel,” the most important message ever. It’s all about God’s love and grace through Jesus, which can save us. This message never goes away, and it’s linked to the idea of judgment, reminding us to live according to God’s love.
Wednesday showed us that God’s people have always played a crucial role in His mission. In the past, God chose special people like Abraham and his descendants to show His love. Now, it’s God’s people going out into the world to share Jesus’ message.
Thursday looked at how God’s mission is for the whole world. People from every nation, tribe, and language are part of God’s family. We should start by sharing God’s love with our family and friends, then reach out to others, and finally, be willing to help people from all over the world.
Friday’s lesson reminded us that God has a world-wide mission for us, just like a light in the darkness. We should let God’s love shine through us and share it with others. If we do this in humility and faithfulness, God’s power will be revealed in many people coming to know the truth.
