1. Jesus Addresses the Crowd's Motivation – John 6:26-27
KJV 26 Jesus answered them and said, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Ye seek me, not because ye saw the miracles, but because ye did eat of the loaves, and were filled. 27 Labour not for the meat which perisheth, but for that meat which endureth unto everlasting life, which the Son of man shall give unto you: for him hath God the Father sealed. CEV 26 Jesus answered, “I tell you for certain that you are not looking for me because you saw the miracles, but because you ate all the food you wanted. 27 Don't work for food that spoils. Work for food that gives eternal life. The Son of Man will give you this food, because God the Father has given him the right to do so.”

Jesus tells the crowd that they seek Him not for His signs but because they ate the loaves and were filled. He advises them to work for food that endures to eternal life, which He can give because God the Father has authorized Him.

2. The Crowd's Inquiry About Works – John 6:28-29
KJV 28 Then said they unto him, What shall we do, that we might work the works of God? 29 Jesus answered and said unto them, This is the work of God, that ye believe on him whom he hath sent. CEV 28 “What exactly does God want us to do?” the people asked. 29 Jesus answered, “God wants you to have faith in the one he sent.”

The crowd asks Jesus what they should do to perform the works of God. Jesus responds that the work of God is to believe in the one He has sent.

3. Request for a Sign – John 6:30-31
KJV 30 They said therefore unto him, What sign shewest thou then, that we may see, and believe thee? what dost thou work? 31 Our fathers did eat manna in the desert; as it is written, He gave them bread from heaven to eat. CEV 30 They replied, “What miracle will you work, so that we can have faith in you? What will you do? 31 For example, when our ancestors were in the desert, they were given manna to eat. It happened just as the Scriptures say, ‘God gave them bread from heaven to eat.’ ”

The crowd asks for a sign to believe in Him, citing the manna their ancestors ate in the desert as an example, suggesting that Moses gave them bread from heaven.

4. Jesus Clarifies the True Bread from Heaven – John 6:32-33
KJV 32 Then Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Moses gave you not that bread from heaven; but my Father giveth you the true bread from heaven. 33 For the bread of God is he which cometh down from heaven, and giveth life unto the world. CEV 32 Jesus then told them, “I tell you for certain that Moses wasn't the one who gave you bread from heaven. My Father is the one who gives you the true bread from heaven. 33 And the bread that God gives is the one who came down from heaven to give life to the world.”

Jesus corrects them, stating that it was not Moses who gave the bread from heaven, but His Father who gives the true bread from heaven. He explains that the bread of God is the one who comes down from heaven and gives life to the world.

5. The Crowd's Request – John 6:34
KJV 34 Then said they unto him, Lord, evermore give us this bread. CEV 34 The people said, “Sir, give us this bread and don't ever stop!”

Moved by His words, the crowd asks Jesus to always give them this bread.

6. Jesus Declares Himself as the Bread of Life – John 6:35
KJV 35 And Jesus said unto them, I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me shall never thirst. CEV 35 Jesus replied: I am the bread that gives life! No one who comes to me will ever be hungry. No one who has faith in me will ever be thirsty.

Jesus declares that He is the bread of life; whoever comes to Him will never go hungry, and whoever believes in Him will never be thirsty.
